Conference: a family friendly world of employment

Conference on a family orientated worl of economy

[1. 11. 2013] On Tuesday, 29th October, the AGF organized the conference "Towards a family-friendly labor market". In three working groups, participants discussed the right to return to full-time employment, precarious jobs and family consciousness in companies.

Press Release AGF on right of return to full time

[30. 10. 2013] The family organizations call for a detailed right to return in order to facilitate employees’ way back into full-time employment after having opted for a part-time job. At its meeting today, the General Assembly of the AGF adopted a corresponding resolution.

AGF at World Children's Day in Berlin

[23. 9. 2013] Last Sunday, the central World Children's Day Festival took place again as every year in Berlin at Potsdamer Platz. The AGF was there and invited children and grown-ups to try speed stacking as well as feeling "blindly"  items from a family's every day life. Also, AGF informed about its work and its current main topics.

AGF looking for policy officer

[18. 9. 2013] AGF is looking for a policy officer for its office in Berlin. Since German language as mother tongue (or similar) is a basic requirement, the vacancy announcement is only available in German. The position will be a maternity leave replacement and therefore limited from 1 January 2014 to 15 February 2015.

Family Convention terminates with a Manifesto

[9. 9. 2013] From 06 to 08 September, the Family Convention took place under the motto "We make the society!" in FEZ Berlin. It was organised by Lebenshilfe, AGF, Deutsches Down-Syndrom InfoCenter, Interessengemeinschaft Fragiles-X and FASD Deutschland.

Conference: a family friendly world of employment

[5. 9. 2013] AGF invites to a conference on "Towards a family friendly world of employment" on 29 October 2013 in Berlin. Working grous will discuss concrete steps, how employment may become more family friendly. Unfortunatly this conference is in German only.

Expert meeting on inclusion and housing

Expert meeting Inclusion and housing in Europe

[3. 9. 2013] On Friday, 30 September 2013 European Experts met in Berlin to discuss: "No Space for Families? Inclusion and Housing". The Expert meeting focused on the connection between the concept of inclusion and housing as well as the housing situations of families in different european countries. A close look was given to the situation in Germany, Italy and Great Britain and the perspective of the European level. The documentation will be available soon.

Assembly of Bundesforum Familie

[10. 6. 2013] On 7 June the network meeting of the Bundesforum Familie, a federal consortium of more than 100 associations working in the field of family affairs, took place in Berlin. More than 50 participants discussed the topic “Family and inclusion” in a world-café after Prof. Dr. Heiner Keupp introduced the theme in a talk. The meeting was started off by the decision on future members of the advisory board which will accompany the work of the Bundesforum Familie.

AGF at Umweltfestival in Berlin

[3. 6. 2013] This weekend, the 18th Umweltfestival ("Green Festival") took place around the Brandenburger Tor. On 2nd June, the AGF joined the festival to present itself and its work. At AGF's stand, children and grown-ups could measure their coordination and speed by testing speed stacking and they were called to try out the sensory parcour. Not amusing, however, was the weather in Berlin.

AGF supports release of film VIERZEHN

[23. 5. 2013] Today, the film VIERZEHN (engl.: Fourteen) is released in Germany. The film was directed by Cornelia Grünberg and was already shown at the 62. Berlinale. Sensitive and unbiased, it follows four teenage-girls, all aged fourteen, on their way through their unexpected pregnancy and into their new life as mothers. VIERZEHN shows which consequences the girls' decision bear, how they and their social environment deal with the new situation and how the girls meet their challenges.

Strengthening Families to meet Challenges of Demographic Change

[14. 5. 2013] Due to the demography summit of the German Federal Government today, the Association of German Family Organisations published a press release. The family organisations support the strengthening of families as a crucial measure of demographic policy. However, the government seems to work rather half-heartedly on this object.

Report on Poverty and Wealth: Children and young people mostly affected by poverty

[26. 2. 2013] Refering to the political debate last Thursday on the 4th Report on Poverty and Wealth at Bundestag, the AGF called on the German Federal Government to consider the question of poverty seriously. Especially the high risk of poverty among children shows disastrous effects - for the children themselves as well as for the society as a whole.

Dr. Klaus Zeh at New Year's Reception of the Federal President

[16. 1. 2013] On 10 January, Federal President Joachim Gauck invited to the traditional New Year's Reception at Schloss Bellevue. Dr. Klaus Zeh, newly elected president of the AGF, was among his guests as representative of the family organisations.

Dr. Klaus Zeh new Chair of AGF

[2. 1. 2013] The Association of the German family organizations is starting into the new year with a  new chair. As scheduled, the general leadership is exchanged on rotation between the members of  AGF. The "Deutscher Familienverband" shall assume the general leadership of the Association of Binational Families and Partnerships for 2013 and 2014. The new chair is Dr. Klaus Zeh, president of the DFV and mayor of the city of Nordhausen.
