[12. 11. 2019] On 30 October 2019, the AGF conference "Quality of all-day care for children of primary school age" took place in Berlin. Over 70 participants of the fields of science, practice and politics discussed quality aspects in connection with the planned expansion of all-day care for primary school children in Germany. A legal claim to this should be implemented as a joint task of the federal government, the federal states and the municipalities by the year 2025. The focus of the symposium was the question of what the quality of all-day care at primary school age should look like from the point of view of families.

In its meeting, the AGF took up the issue of "all-day care of children of primary school age", as this is an urgent problem for many parents and children. While all-day care is available for children under the age of six in Germany the question of the possibility, the reliability and the quality of full-time care for many parents arises again with the transition of children to primary school. The regionally unequal availability of such services is a major hurdle for re-entering work or widening the employment of parents in some regions. In addition, the potential of all-day schools / full-time care to compensate for socially unequal starting opportunities in school education has been used only insufficiently so far.

The documentation of the conference has not been translated so far. Please read the German version.
